Alcohol related deaths to reach 250000, why doesn't the Government act?

It is something to do with the powerful drinks lobby. I would suggest sensible education, the current and past drug education is all based on propaganda not evidence, I would also adopt the matrix of harm for drugs created by Prof Nutt et al. which scores drugs on a scale of harm. This shows alcohol to be a very dangerous drug, comparable to Heroin and Cocaine and far more dangerous than drugs like Cannabis, LSD or Ecstasy. This would also send the world a signal that the UK Government respects evidence based policy, and maybe encourage Science back over here. There is reportedly a huge lack of Scientists in this country, and in my opinion that is down to the Governments total lack of respect for Science. The drug laws in this country are based on here say, and when Science speaks out is is denounced or removed from its position, science and evidence should be the foundations of every policy.
