Im being sued by a creditor, what now and how much time do I have?

I got a letter saying im being sued by a creditor for the amount of $1256. The letter was dated 2/22 and said something like I have 35 days to respond. I want to file chapter 7 bankruptcy and will turn in my papers by 3/31 Id like to know what i have to do so this can be absorbed by my bankruptcy and so that my wages dont get garnished. If I go to the courthouse to file an "answer" to this suit what do I put down
