Most picturesque villages to live within commuting distance to London (preferably north) please help!!!?

I'm afraid you want what everybody else wants in london. A few years ago my friend moved to Kings Langley in Hertfordshire, it has the c and lots of greenery and near some lovely little villages with greens and pubs etc. It's less than a half hour from Euston too, and Abbots Langley is next to it. HOWEVER I have to warn you, when he moved there he could get a seat on the train, now several years later housing estates have started to spring up all over and there are so many people commuting that that platforms have had to be extended to get more carriages on there and now he has to fight to get on the train never mind get a seat!
